How to claim a delayed flight

To claim for cancelled flights, follow these steps:

    • First: you can make it through the claims sheets that airlines must have available at the information desks or ticket points at the airports, or make it directly from Legalbono.       Important: To claim a delayed flight, it is of great importance that you never get rid of the plane ticket. Also save the boarding pass if you have obtained it. How much is the compensation for the delayed flight?

In order to qualify for a compensation for a delayed flight, it is an essential requierement that the airline that operated the affected flight is headquartered in a Member State of the European Union. If not, the affected flight must have left from an airport in the EU. In any case, at least one of the two airports, departure or destination, of the affected flight must be in EU territory.If the delay lasts longer than 3 hours, you have the right to compensation:

  • €250 for flights between 0 and 1,500 km of distance, 
  • €400 between 1,500 and 3,000 km 
  • and €600 when the distance is greater than 3,500 km.

In addition, the airline is obliged to provide you with food assistance, accommodation (if the departure is postponed until the following day) and an alternative transport to take you to the destination. If the delay of your flight is more than 5 hours, you have the right to obtain the full refund of your ticket. It will not take more than 7 days once requested.
